In the year 1909. Earl Grey, the Governor-General of Canada , donated
a trophy for the Rugby Football Championship of Canada.
The trophy became known as The Grey Cup, and was open to competition only for teams which were registered with the Canada Rugby Union. In 1954, the Grey Cup became the Championship Trophy for the Canadian Football League. That is its role at this time. And the Toronto Argonauts have hoisted the Cup 14 times. More than any other franchise! Against only 5 losses. |
